1. The Morrigan
Goddess of war, serpent of doom
Destroying all who encounter you
But there is one who you won't kill
There is one whose blood won't spill
Seeker of souls, taker of heads
I watch you conjure war among men
I will strike each form you take
Till you return to me and seal my fate
For one last glory I will prevail
The Morrigan she calls out my name
Guarding the borders of my homeland
I slay the warriors of Cruachan
With bravery and battle rage
I kill them all in my domain
She appears to me before my eyes
Baying for blood in each disguise
Tell me now, how does it end?
Whisper to me, prophetess of death
A maiden wept as I came to the ford
With bloodied shield and broken sword
I could see they were my own
She stood lamenting this fallen soul
She disappeared from my sight
I knew I would not return from this fight
A black crow waits before I die
As I depart, she'll watch my spirit fly
2. An Ancient Fire Burns
Fires of wonder and secrets untold
Burn in the darkness where lost dreams unfold
Laid down before me, forsaken memories
Mighty and fallen, a graven prophecy
Bridges are burning and paths become unclear
But my heart is yearning for those I once held dear
Their voices compel me as strong winds whip the land
With tales of old bloodshed upon its breath
To conquer all that fate lays down on me
With breaking heart I see
The skies they are falling
But still I journey on
Our eyes bear the flame
In our veins an ancient fire burns
3. Beneath The Frozen Sky
Foul deeds awake and stir within me
Visions chasing visions, a dark clairvoyancy
Cursed are the phantoms clawing at my mind
Bestowed onto me they linger deep inside
For when Orion stands towering above
And the night grips the land as darkness takes a hold
Watching as time uncovers all concealed
Countenance of sorrow gently be revealed
Lay down your burdens
Cast into waters deep
So have I wandered
So shall I sleep
For all that I desire and all that I have done
And yet I hunger still for somewhere I belong
And if this should be the way of all that is to come
Then set the world afire, let the flames rise
Above
4. Heathen Burial
The dead lay strewn across the altars of stone
Storm weathered bodies broken on the hungry earth
Every fibre of my being burning with the lust
With a nightmare reaching from hell
Voices of damnation will answer to my sword
And the screaming void swallows me hole
To a place where trial and tribulation wait
Where friend and foe lay below the sodden earth
And I feel the storm crashing down on me
Sever the chains that bind us here
All I ask is for strength to carry me on
By the will of the gods may it be
The dead are cast to the sea
Consumed by the venom that drives my will
The fear cast out from my bones
The ships on the shoreline burning on the bay
The dawning of a new age has come again
5. Visions Of The Dawn
I walk among these ruins, these ruins of an age
When ancient dreams of splendour came alive
And our hearts thundered like the sound of a thousand men...bound for war
As night unfolds I'm haunted by a sleepless dream
Until the flames of the dawn break the sky
Once more I long
For visions of the dawn
Footsteps of the fallen echo round me where I stand
We are bound in sorrow and in grief
Eternal twilight, under light of an evening star
We forerver chase the fading star
Troubled are the dreams of those whose days are these
When darkness grips us all within its mire
And though our hearts may long to return
In memories of the past we cannot dwell
Wandering ever onward, like those who went before
I've tasted all that bitterness has to offer
But though our hearts may lie in ruin
Strength and Iron will shall see us through
6. To Face The Black Tide
Alone I sit watching the world unravel before my eyes
Waiting for winter sun to sink below as further through shadow I crawl
Old ghosts still wander within my mind
Old hearts still beating, their blood flows as mine
My fate is twisting, my fate is turning
Dreams are cast away
My fate is twisting, my fate is turning
All life fades away
And so it is that when I reach through moments past
I find no reason, no shard of hope to pierce the dark
As I fall victim to her loves decay
Black tides are rising to wash the weak away
7. Poem To The Gael
A sombre sky above your head
A lonely path below
And hand on heart I cannot see
The light to guide me home
So sing me songs of love and war
Songs of hope and pain
For we are lost within a dream
Unyielding once again
And so it is the end of our days
So walk with me till morning breaks
We travel down this trodden path
A maze of stone and mire
Just hold my hand as we pass by
A sea of blazing pyres
And every thought and every word
That's ever come to me
Has fallen to the great beyond
With hope and memory
And so it is the end of our days
So walk with me till morning break
8. The Last Caress Of Light Before The Dark
A shadow creeps across the land
The light begins to weaken
On this bitter earth I stand
Alone, weary and forsaken
Majestic silence of the sea
It guides me as I roam
Remorseful thoughts sweep through me
I've strayed so far from home
What curse is this that dwells in me?
That holds my heart from beating free
The stinging bite of winters call
A beauty lost once and for all
As the waters lash against my body
A siren calls from the deep
Echoes of foreboding, pierces through my
soul
There is no time, no time for turning back
What has led me here, to the edge of reason
Where weakness haunts the mind and
plagues the soul
I wither under tongues of fire
I never thought this day would ever come
The last caress of light before the dark
A tempest lures me into the chasm of death
Blood roars and ravens soar above me
They summon me into a realm of fear
Wretched faith clings to my shackled hope
The last caress of light before the dark
So far I've sought, so long I've fought
The land is seared with sorrows past
And if I should die upon this day
Then let the spirits guide me home
The last caress of light before the dark
