TYR

A thousand years ago the Scandinavians believed in their
own gods Thor, Odin or Loki. Amongst them there was also
the fiercest of all Tyr, a god of war.

TYR
is a name adapted by a folk-hard-rock quartet that comes from
a small archipelago in the North Atlantic, an autonomous region of the
Kingdom of Denmark the Fareoe Islands. What inspires them to create
their music is traditional Faeroese music, Old Norse mythology and
such musical giants as Black Sabbath or Dream Theater.The path they
have chosen, the richness of their inspiration as well as the hard work
that they took up a few years ago (throughout which the band has
appeared on stage with many notable gigs in many European
countries) have made an internationally recognized folk-metal
act with their own unique style within the genre of Viking metal.

Among the numerous concerts they have played so far, the group has
recorded three excellent albums: "How Far to Asgaard" (2002), "Eric the
Red" (2003) and "Ragnarok" (released in September 2006). "Eric the
Red" has gained a particularly enthusiastic acclaim by both critics and
fans of Viking metal in many countries (in the Faeroes it still is a best
selling album). The hot "Ragnarok", released by the famous label
Napalm Records, just 2 months since it hit the market has its place
among the most interesting metal albums in 2006.
is an act of an outstanding potential as far as live gigs.

The professional skills of all the members, strong and charismatic vocals
of the frontman Heri Joensen, superb backing vocals provided by the
other three musicians and above all the fascinating atmosphere and lots
of energy at the concerts all that evokes enthusiasm not only in every
fan of folk-metal tunes.
